The Barre Rotary Club recently joined forces with The Central Vermont Rotary Club, The World Santa Fund, and the Central Vermont Young Professionals to pack over 110 coats with hat and mitten sets, for the Salvation Army to distribute to community members who are in need of a warm coat for the winter.
Caroline and Liane show the new coats, which were purchased through fundraising by The World Santa (and to which The Barre Rotary Club contributed), were matched with hand-knitted hat and mittens sets and wrapped by the volunteers. The coats ranged in sizes from 2T up to adult.
Liane and Jim wrap coats.
Dave, Tanya and Ray wrap coats.
Tanya and Ed wrap.
Sarah and Ted wrap coats.
A large pile of coats all raped up!
Once packed and wrapped, the brightly colored gift packages then traveled along a human assembly line to a truck, which drove them to the local Salvation Army for holiday distribution.
This good works event took place in the carver’s studio at the Vermont Granite Museum in Barre.  The studio was decorated with beautifully lit Christmas trees.  Even the stone carvings and plasters were decked out with Christmas lights and wreaths for the holiday season!  ristmas
The Barre Rotary Club organized gingerbread cookie decorating for kids, as well as ornament-making for holiday trees.  Members brought potluck dishes, and The World donated pizza for the volunteers.

“This was a multi-generational good works event that brought together volunteers from four organizations, ranging in ages from 14 to 83,” emphasized The Barre Rotary Club President Caroline Earle.  “This event shows the strong community spirit for doing good works that exists across all generations in the Central Vermont community, and it appropriately reflects the giving season.”  The Barre Rotary Club will be taking over a leadership role in the annual event starting next year, following up on the previous strong partnership between The World Santa Fund and Central Vermont Rotary.
Kids just "wanna" have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
