Cats, Dogs and Thunder Road Race Cars Are Coming to Barre

This is the first year that The Barre Rotary Club is doing this new and exciting fund-raising project. We hope it is successful and that it continues every year on the main street of Barre.
Make plans to host a decorated fiberglass cat, dog or Thunder Road race car for the summer of 2021. They will be available for as little as $550.00 and will be decorated by an artist from The Vermont Paletteers. Cats, dogs and race cars will be on display from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend on North Main Street in beautiful downtown Barre and will be auctioned off in September of 2021 at The Art Splash Auction & Gala.
Note; Race car will be a 1932 Ford Coupe from Thunder Road & a Chevrolet late-model.
How Does the Barre Art Splash Work?
The Barre Paletteers artists will decorate the cats and dogs during the fall and winter of 2020/2021.
Sponsors looking for a design to complement their business can contact a Barre Rotary Club officer and we will work with you to organize a meeting with an artist to create a design specific to your business. Club officers are listed on the bottom right side of the home page of our web site, www.barrevtrotary.org. The Artists will then transform their Cats and Dogs for the May unveiling. Cats, dogs and race cars will be on display from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Painting of the race cars will be announced at a later date.
Sponsors will have the choice of the art objects being displayed in front of their business if it is on North Main Street.

Where do the Art Items Go After the Summer?
Following their summer on the street, the cats, dogs and race cars will be auctioned off at The Vermont Granite Museum or Thunder Road. The profits are then divided up. Firstly, in profound appreciation for the work done by The Paletteers of Vermont artists, they will receive a 25% share of the gross amount that the art item brings at auctioned. The net proceeds will then go to The Barre Rotary Club to fund many of the “good works” projects that the club does.
How do you come up with the $550.00 sponsor fee? Be creative.....
Partner with another business to sponsor a cat, dog or old race car. Or Maybe Co-op with.....

Your favorite purveyor Community organizations
Your local fuel provider Some of your board members

Our goal is to have 25 cats, dogs and race cars featured throughout Barre from Memorial Day – through Labor Day 2021.

Be sure to sign up for your art object right away. This is a COMMUNITY WIDE PUBLIC ART event and we encourage participation by all businesses, organizations and individuals.

This 1932 Ford, Three Window Coupe, from Thunder Road, owned by Lloyd Hutchins of Barre and driven by Henry Montandon “The Frozen Logger” will be one of the race cars built. It was built by Lloyd in the early years of Thunder Road. He sold the car a long time ago and then many years later bought it back and restored it. It still runs. We wish to thank Lloyd for providing this car to build the mold for the Arcana Workshop, manufacturer of the race cars and all his help with this project.
The Arcana Workshop, Owned by Mike Nelson is building the molds and will manufacturer the fiberglass race cars right here in Barre. We will be helping to keep jobs in Barre and maybe create jobs if enough race cars are sponsored
The second car will be a late-model Chevrolet race car.
