Cats, Dogs and Thunder Road Race Cars Are Coming to Barre
This is the first year that The Barre Rotary Club is doing this new and exciting fund-raising project.  We hope it is successful and that it continues every year on the main street of Barre.
Make plans to host a decorated fiberglass cat, dog or Thunder Road race car for the summer of 2021. They will be available for as little as $550.00 and will be decorated by well-known artists as well as The Paletteers of Vermont. Cats, dogs and race cars will be on display from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend on North Main Street in beautiful downtown Barre and will be auctioned off on September 18, 2021 at 3 PM at The Barre Art Splash Auction & Gala at The Vermont Granite Museum of Barre.
Note; Race cars will be a 1932, Ford, Three Window, Coupe from Thunder Road & Ford & Chevy late-models.

Some artists were asked to decorate their art item with a certain theme requested by the sponsor and others just let their creative juices flow!
You can see them with their art item before they decorated it and when they are done with the completed item.

The following artists are decorating old 32, Ford, Three Window Coupes that raced at Thunder Road in the 60's and late model cars that race their today.
They have spent many, many hours researching the history, the drivers, the colors & the details of the cars and then of course, decorating them!

The picture at the top left is of the # 76 car with the driver, Henry Montandon and the owner, lloyd Hutchins. Hutchins provided the refurbished car for us to make the models.

These people, businesses and organizations have sponsored one or more art items, cats, dogs & race cars.

Their name will be on a plaque on each art item displayed on Main Street from Memorial day through Labor Day in the summer of 2021 as well as on the map indicating where each art item is located.

The art item that they have sponsored is listed after their name.

Then the art items will be auctioned off at the Vermont Granite Museum September 18, 2021 at 3 PM.
The BARRE ART SPLASH  project was conceived when I was traveling through Catskill, NY in the summer of 2017 where they had dozens of fiberglass cats on display on their Main Street which were decorated by many different artists and then auctioned off right after labor day.  I decided to present the project to our Rotary club as a major fund raiser hoping to replace the funding that the club Home Show provided for over 50 years. It was a tough sell! There didn't seem to be much interest in the project at the time.
