After eleven Rotarians and four guests recited thePledge of Allegiance, President Eddie asked Nicole to express gratitude; she was grateful to be here with her Rotary family after a challenging week.
President Eddie then welcomed our guests: Doug Bullett, Lena and Riley Stephens and J.D. Fox who he asked what brought him to our meeting today. He responded that he was always looking for volunteer opportunities. He works for Ben & Jerry’s and participates in their CAD (Community Action Day) Program. Most recently he weeded gardens in Waterbury and helped to secure a grant.

A Special Birthday Celebration
We sang Happy Birthday to Tony and presented him with a cake. He, in turn, presented us with a Happy Birthday video featuring Martin Short who Tony claims is a long time friend of his. The video was very entertaining and everyone enjoyed it. Ted served the cake with Tony’s order: “Let them eat cake!” Happy 59 Tony!
The Last Rung
President Eddie introduced Nicole to present the service area goals of the strategic plan. She began with a review the process of the development of the strategic plan: analyzing the results of the Club Health Check; identifying priority areas and developing goals (Public Image, Business Operations and Membership; added later, Community Service); reviewing and discussing each of the goals developed for each area at club assemblies and regular meetings; mission, vision and value statements presented and discussed; and revisions made based on feedback received from members. She then went on to present the Community Service goals and actions. Comments and questions were few and there were no substantial changes offered. The final draft of the strategic plan will be sent to members and discussed at the July Club Assembly.
Reminder: Deadline for making reservations for the Changeover Dinner is Friday, June 21 (jcatone@comcast.net)
