Welcome
Acting President Eddie opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and thanks for the good weather, a speedy recovery from gum surgery for President Caroline and for our glorious fall weather. He then introduced our guests: Nathaniel Lew, Executive Director of the Barre Opera House; and Lena and Riley Stephens, daughters of Emily Stephens. Happy Dollars
Karl was up with a Fistfull of Dollars and his best impression of Clint Eastwood: finally getting someone to interview for the Executive Director position of Barre Area Development after an ad aired on WDEV; Tom and his battle with an elevator door; and the rest in the fist just for you (i.e. the Club).
Eddie offered a risque Happy Dollar as he announced that the car club (owners Karl, Ted, Tom and himself) drove “Topless” to St. Johnsbury: and more dollars for the efforts of the Granite City Garden Club and Karl planting and mulching at the Reynolds House gardens; suggested donating a wheelbarrow to the Garden Club to replace their “old one;” and for a fast recovery from gum surgery for President Caroline.
Doug had a Happy Dollar because he connected with a Partner for Peace in Brattleboro who is helping Guatemala women with a project. Bob Pope sang the praises of his daughter (and gave a Happy Dollar) for finishing the Mount Desert Marathon in Maine.
Eddie was back with another Happy Dollar for the side trip on a golfing adventure of driving up the road to the top of Okemo Mountain in Ludlow.
Dan threw a Happy Dollar in the basket as he reported that at a fundraising meeting for People’s Health and Wellness Clinic more money was raised than expected.

Craving for Kay
The major activity this week was a service project which involved carving pumpkins in memory of Kay Santamore, a long standing staff member of The World and who was a key member of the Rotary World Santa Coat service project. Ruth Weeks (another The World staff member) is creating a pumpkin patch in memory of Kay with lit pumpkins. Here are the end products of our works of Jack O’ Lantern art.
