Welcome and Committee Reports
President Caroline opened the meeting leading fourteen Rotarians and one guest (Art Zorn) in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four Way Test. And then right on to committee reports. Dan was up first with a report from the Community Service Projects Committee. The Committee will meet with Eddie next week to discuss the operation of the BOR Concession Stand.
Tony, Chair of the Membership Committee, reported that he has lunch with prospective members to discuss Rotary. Please refer potential members to him. He hopes to add two or three new members to our roster in 2025.
President Caroline reported that the Board of Directors has approved of a partial payment ($100) for new members for one year.
Emily reported that the Public Image Committee members, Karl and her, are posting on Facebook and our website.
Nicole, Chair of the Youth Services Committee, asked Eddie to report on his meeting with Spaulding students. He reported that several students signed up to volunteer at the Concession Stand. Additionally, Tony reported that four students volunteered to help out at the Gobble Wobble Turkey Trot. Nicole also told us that there is early interest in attending RYLA.
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Tony reminded us of the goal of 100% participation in giving to the Rotary Foundation. President Caroline reported that fourteen members have given so far.
We will be wrapping coats, hats and mittens as part of the World Santa Wrap on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Granite Museum from 10 am-1 pm. Coffee, doughnuts, pizza and potluck dishes will be provided.
No meetings on Wednesday, November 27th and December 4th.

President Caroline reported that the Board has approved the following perks for those holding the office of president: cost of attendance at NEPETs for both quarter and full term presidents; cost of attendance of the Rotary International Conference for full term presidents; and no charge for lunches.
Nicole announced the lineup of quarter term presidents for 2025-26: Tony, Emily, Zach and Doug. A “lead” president will need to be selected.
She also announced that the Drop ‘N Swap will take place on May 10th and 11th at the BOR.
Since Last We Met
Birthday: Dan Barlow November 22
On this day in history: In 1992 A massive fire erupted at
Windsor Castle in
Berkshire, England, causing the destruction of 115 rooms, though the priceless art collection was largely untouched.
Treasurer’s Report
Patrick reported a balance of around $22,000 in the Operational Account. He also reported that the Board approved his proposal to transfer each quarter any surplus above $10,000 from the Operational Account to the Foundation Account.
Ted reported on the Foundation Account: income-$2,122.01; net profit for October-$1,612,909; bank statement ending balance for October: $86,089.06, but with committed funds the estimated balance will be $20,759.13.
A Fine and Some Happy Dollars Bob Pope rose to propose a fine on Eddie for being inconsiderate of his time by making a late-promised earlier in day interrupting-date night call for help at the BOR Concession Stand. Eddie offered no defense, but instead offered to pay the fine since Bob came to the rescue and was a big help.
Bob also had a Happy Dollar to celebrate the installation of a new rail at the entrance of the Aldrich repaired by the Granite Corporation.
Nicole gave a Happy Dollar as she told us that she is part of a group that is opposed to the closing of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at CVMC by the University of Vermont Health Network.
President Caroline had a few Happy Dollars: thanks to Bob for the granite bookend; an informative trip to Spain; and to the Board of Directors for a job well done in supporting the office of president by offering a set of perks.
Jan gave a Happy Dollar with her apology for her post nasal drip during her Classification Talk last week.
