Happy Holidays
Expressing Happiness and the Holiday Spirit
Fifteen Rotarians and seven guests were enjoying their lunch and lively conservations when President Nicole began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and My Country ‘Tis of Thee. She asked if anyone had a Happy Dollar and one would soon see that the room was filled with expressions of happiness.
DG Caroline started things off with Happy Dollars for polio, Liane and Art being here and $2 for the acceptance of her daughter by Turfs University into the Clinical Occupational Therapist Program. George added to the coffers with a couple of dollars because he was glad to be a Rotarian and how the young people in our Club have inspired him to remain active, referencing the Santa Wrap and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army.
Nicolas gave a Happy Dollar in recognizing that his home country, Argentina, won the World Cup.
Arthur threw five Happy Dollars into the basket celebrating Liane’s birthday, for Liane’s son being here and for the presence of Liane’s posse.
Joe added $2 to the base of the polio cylinder and another for his Jazzercise instructor being her.
Bob Blow came up with $5 for being here today.
Janalee, a guest of Liane’s, gave $2 because she was happy to be here to enjoy listening to carols, looking at the sweaters and having a nice lunch with family.
Eddie expressed his happiness with a Happy Dollar because he and his niece Sonjia will be preparing lasagna for twenty residents of Good Samaritan Haven.
Tony gave two Happy Dollars, one for the joy of serving dinner at Hedding Church on Christmas Day and one for his incredible dog.
Liane added to the basket because she was happy to be invited to perform at our Club meeting and for the presence of her family.
President Nicole offered $5 for today’s program and was proud that she made all the gifts for her family this year.
Announcements Tony reminded us to register for the weekly meeting. He needs an accurate headcount for our meal.
DG Caroline announced that pocket copies of the Constitution are still available.
She then presented a gift to President Nicole for serving us well during the first half of her term.

The Holiday Spirit in Song with Liane Martinelli and Arthur Zorn
Tom introduced Liane and Arthur, the featured performers for today’s musical program.
Liane sang and Arthur sang and played the keyboard for a combination of solos and community sing-along. There was a nice mixture of fun and serious numbers, from Christmas Chopsticks and Jingle-Bell Rock to O Holy Night and Joy to the World along with a sprinkle of beautiful melodies, like A Christmas Song and Let There Be Peace on Earth. The Rotarians and the guests thoroughly enjoyed the concert and showed their appreciation with heartfelt applause and a standing ovation.
Until next time…, that’s all folks.
