Pictured above are , Barre Rotary Club President Tony Campos, Vermont State Governor, Phil Scott and BARRE ART SPLASH Chair, Karl A. Rinker.

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021 Governor Scott picked three raffle tickets for his three model race cars that were built and decorated for the BARRE ART SPLASH project and displayed on Main Street all summer.

The race cars were models of the actual race cars that Scott raced at Thunder Road and other race tracks over the years. As far as I know Scott is the only US governor that has ever won a stock car race.

The cars were part of 37 art items that were displayed in Barre all summer and then auctioned off on September 18 at the Granite Museum of VT.

Former Barre mayor, Thom Lauzon was the winning bidder on all three cars at the auction. He then donated the cars back to the Rotary Club to raffle off to raise money for "Wheels for Warmth" which is a program founded by Scott many years ago.

$5125.00 was raised from the ticket sales with half ($2552.50) going to "Wheels for Warmth" and half going to the Rotary Club.

We appreciate Governor speaking to us about "Wheels for Warmth" and drawing the winning tickets as well as all the people that bough the tickets.

The three winners were Brian Zecchinelli, Swenson Granite and Rock of Ages.
