A Cruise up the Mighty Hudson River and through The Champlain Canal into Lake Champlain

Join us for a presentation from fellow Barre Rotarian, Karl A. Rinker as he shares his expedition up the mighty Hudson River through The Champlain Canal into Lake Champlain in his boat.

He will talk about the trip, including pictures, starting in Westport CT, through Long Island Sound with a stop in Queens to go to The US Open tennis tournament. Then through The Harlem River into the Hudson River. Going North just about as far as you can go in a boat into The NY Canal System and then into Lake Champlain to his home port in Malletts Bay, Colchester, VT. He will provide many interesting facts about the river and the New York canal system.

Biography

Karl was born in Barre, VT and is a graduate of Spaulding High School. Following high school, he attended Vermont Technical College studying mechanical engineering.

He is a past president of the Barre Rotary Club the past president of The Barre Bi-Centennial Commission and a past president of Barre Area Development. Other previous affiliations include serving as a board member for the Barre Heritage Festival, the New Hampshire/Vermont Gasoline Dealers Association, the Barre Universalist Church, ECA, Inc. and The Granite Hills Credit Union.

Karl has recently retired after almost a fifty year career owning a Mobil convenience store and a communications company in Central Vermont.

His interests, in addition to enjoying life with family, include boating, skiing, snowmobiling, photography, hunting and community service.
